Project Overview

ABOUT LatinxVC

LatinxVC is a group of venture investors dedicated to supporting and growing the Latinx venture capital ecosystem. I collaborated with them to create a bold and professional brand identity, a user-friendly website, and social media templates that reflected their sense of community, passion, and determination.

Note: In October 2023, LatinxVC rebranded to SomosVC.

THE CHALLENGE

  • Create a bold yet minimal brand identity that communicates professionalism, diversity, and confidence.
  • Ensure consistency across digital and print materials, making the brand adaptable for reports, presentations, and events.
  • Develop a website using Webflow, requiring me to learn and implement the tool effectively.

WHAT I LEARNED

  • Leveraging iterative feedback to align design choices with the client’s vision.
  • Balancing vibrant colors with a professional aesthetic to maintain credibility while ensuring brand recognition.
  • Quickly mastering Webflow to build an engaging, interactive website from scratch.

Design process

1. Research & Strategy

The project started with a client meeting, where I received a brief and mockups outlining their vision. LatinxVC had a broad audience with three main groups:

  1. Latinx venture capitalists (VCs) (ages 25-45) in finance and tech.
  2. Limited partners (LPs) (ages 35-55) with extensive investment experience.
  3. Aspiring Latin entrepreneurs looking to enter the venture capital space.

To create a distinct yet professional brand, I conducted industry research, analyzed competitor branding, and explored design inspirations that blended corporate minimalism with vibrant cultural elements.

Branding

2. Brand Development

  • Developed two brand proposals, each including:
    • A mood board, creative direction, and visual concept.
    • Logo design and typography selection.
    • A color palette that balanced boldness and professionalism.
  • After the client chose their preferred direction, I expanded the brand identity with custom graphic elements, textures, and collage-style illustrations.

Web Design

3. Web Design & Development
  • Designed a website structure that ensured smooth user navigation.
  • Created a Figma prototype, which was tested by the LatinxVC team for usability.
  • Developed the website in Webflow, integrating custom code for fun interactions.
  • Note: After their rebrand to SomosVC, the website structure changed, but they retained a timeline element I created for them.

Brand Applications

Once the branding and website were finalized, I extended the identity into various media and business materials, including:

  • Social Media Templates – For event promotions and brand awareness.
  • Event Flyers & Business Collateral – Including annual reports, business cards, and branded documents.
  • Presentation Templates – Used for investor meetings and community outreach.

Impact

Continued Collaboration

Even after the initial branding project, I continued working with LatinxVC on:

  • Branded merchandise for their team.
  • Additional landing pages for specific initiatives.
  • New event flyers as they expanded their reach.

Brand growth

  • After the branding launch, LatinxVC officially received its 501(c)(3) designation.
  • Successfully hosted the first-ever Annual Summit, a milestone gathering for the Latinx venture capital community.
  • The team expanded, leading to their rebrand to SomosVC in October 2023.
